DEMOCRATIC STATE SENATOR WEINBERG REBUKES DUMONT MAYOR "Some questions that demand answers "Donations go far and wide" (Page A-1, Feb. 8) points out the need for a complete overhaul of pay-to-play ordinances, which I am in the process of researching and developing. It also points out the obvious: One does need Dramamine to follow the money as it is wheeled out of control around the state. As an active Bergen County Democrat, I hope our party’s executive director, Dumont Mayor Matthew McHale, will use this opportunity to give a complete explanation as to why he funneled money through his Dumont organizations to an Edison primary race. In addition, I hope he offers an explanation as to why he gave primary money to a non-incumbent Maywood Borough Council candidate who ran off the Democratic Party line. And most of all, I would expect that he offer a complete explanation to Bergen County Democratic Organization Chairman Michael Kasparian and members of its executive committee as to why so much primary money was given to the Elaine Rabbitt/Kevin Clancy Bergenfield municipal organization knowing that our county leader promised Bergenfield incumbents that no party dollars would interfere with their borough’s primary challenge. We are sure this will go a long way toward assuring all who care that our organization is truly "Ferriero free," as we all believe it is under the leadership of Kasparian. " Loretta Weinberg Teaneck, Feb. 9 The writer, a Democrat, represents New Jersey’s 37th District in the state Senate.
