Remember how relentless the Democrats were, and continue to be, in pushing their political propaganda about "supposed" fiscal mismanagement and corruption by the prior administration.
Well, look at the Record articles that were recently obtained. They were printed way back in 1980. If you are now asking yourself why you should even care about what happened almost 30 years ago - isn't that real ancient history? Well, yes, you are right, except when you look at who the cast of characters were then, and what those very same characters have done, and continue to do, to our town today.
Note the first headline - "Dumont audit finds $166,224 was Overspent". Now, note the second headline printed just days later - "Overspending in Dumont may reach $250,000". Back then, they could not remember day to day what was "supposedly" overspent.
Sound familiar. Well, it should - LOUD AND CLEAR. The current cast of Democrats could not remember, week to week, month to month, or campaign to campaign, just how much "mismanagment" to blame on others!
Now, note on the first article, second column just who Dumont's Finance Chairman was back in 1979. If the name looks familiar, it should. It is none other than the very same currently disgraced, indicted and arrested political boss, Joe Ferriero. The same Ferriero facing both Federal corruption and civil sexual misconduct charges. The same Ferriero at the helm of the Bergen County Democratic Organization that has Dumont's current Mayor Matt McHale as its Executive Director.
Now, the article states that in the elections of November of 1979, there was a transfer of political power. As the article covers, a very big issue was created about "supposed" unpaid bills and over-expenditures.
When the Democrats knew their 2004 budget was in trouble as we entered 2005, they also staged our town as their political playground and cast anyone and every one, including town vendors, to win at all costs. Is it pure coincidence that their political propaganda just so happens to mirror exactly what happened back in 1980 when their political boss, Joe Ferriero, was a Dumont Councilman.
-
Joe Ferriero - Today, Bergen County Democratic Boss
- Dumont Councilman back in 1980
-
Matt McHale - Today, Bergen County Executive Director
- Dumont Councilman in 2005
The political propaganda techniques of 1980 and 2005 were identical in nature and execution. Also identical was the fact that the "propaganda" centered on the town paying December bills in January of the following year when they are actually received and entered into the computers for processing (very similar to how we pay our personal bills). A process that was, and is, hardly “corruption” or "fiscal mismanagement". For almost 30 years, this has been the accounting procedure throughout a multitude of bipartisan mayors, councils and auditors. Fact is, 12 months of bills were always charged to 12 months of budgets. Not only is it not “corruption, it is hardly the fault of the prior administration, nor is this Democrat slant towards "corruption” unique to our town.
BUT THERE IS ONE BIG DIFFERENCE ...
Back in 1978, note that Ferriero blames the auditor and was quoted then as saying the auditor was “fully responsible”. However, in total contrast to the 1978 antics played by the very same person who is their political boss today, Dumont’s Democrats now conveniently hide the auditor. Not surprising when you come to know that this auditor is one of the Couinty Democrats' largest campaign contributors. Allegedly, he is also the personal accountant to Democratic County boss, Joe Ferriero, himself.
Hey, could Ferriero's accountant also be the same accountant for Ferriero's arrested co-conspirator, Dennis Oury. Who can forget any of this given the barrage of media coverage - Oury and Bergen County Democratic Organization leader Joe Ferriero were both arrested for conspiracy to commit fraud. Oury was also charged with ...
From the Bergen Record
BY ASHLEY KINDERGAN
"The superseding indictment, which adds four new counts, states that from 2004 to 2007, Oury did not tell his personal accountant that he earned $25,016.97 through his partnership in Governmental Grants Consulting Inc., a firm in which he, Ferriero and two other men were partners.
Six months later, after news broke that the U.S. Attorney’s Office had issued subpoenas to various Bergen County municipalities, Oury e-mailed his accountant to tell him that he had forgotten to report the income, the indictment says.
Oury said in the e-mail that he had “just been made aware there was 25,000 in income I forgot to tell you about from Government Grants Consultants (sic). Can you change the return to reflect that income and send it to me this week for filing?”
YEAH, RIGHT !!!!
