2006 AND 2007 TAXES

A "POT OF GOLD" FOR DEMOCRATIC POLITICAL CONTRIBUTORS

What happened to our taxes and all of our State Aid Money over the past 3 years?

Year after year, the Democrats continue to do nothing but raise taxes.  While their smoke and mirrors tactic of continuing to blame the prior administration, our tax increases are going to their political contributors who, in turn, fund their campaign coffers.

Think about this for a minute.  Even if there were an unpaid bill situation of $1.4 million, that number was only 10% of our town's operating budget - only 10% !!!!  Knowing that it is not all that unusual for any town to over-exceed its annual budget due to a variety of circumstances, a mere 10% of a budget is extremely manageable.  Again if true, it could have been handled in similar fashion to how we dealt with the costs incurred during the never-ending snowstorms of 1996-97, and the havoc wreaked upon us by Hurricane Floyd.  Having now seen that their claims have been proven false, the Democrats own fiscal chaos could have been handled responsibly if not for their political agenda.  The Democrats could have placed the interests of our taxpayers above their self-serving political interests and those of their County Boss by resorting to simply blaming everything and anything on the “prior administration”.  While you hold on to these thoughts, bring to mind that our town received $1.7 million dollars over the past 3 years.  Simple math clearly shows that the "extra" $300,000 should have reduced our taxes.

Now, with this in mind, why then has our budget exploded from $13 million in 2004 to a whopping $18 million in 2007? Why have our taxes skyrocketed an outrageous 50% in the last 3 years alone?

Even the Democrats credit the prior administration for holding the line on taxes from 1989-2003.  Up until 2003, Dumont's taxes were among the lowest in the entire County with programs and services that were second to none.

Take a good look at the following 2007 tax analysis chart (Source: Bergen Record) comparing all Bergen County's towns.  See for yourself what the Democrats have done to us in just 3 short years.

Can we afford any more of this ???
